100 Who Care to Resume In-Person Meetings as of August 10, 2021

After more than a year on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Steering Committee for the 100+ People Who Care group in Barton County recently announced its plans to resume in-person giving meetings as of August 10, 2021! The philanthropic group will gather for a special Kick-Off 2.0 event on Tuesday, August 10th at the Best Western Angus Inn Courtyard. Doors open at 5 p.m. so that members and guests can enjoy tasty refreshments provided by Spectrum CPA Partners, the 2021 group underwriter.

"2020 was a challenging year for sure, but the charities were impacted just as much as the business sector, if not more," says Julie Mazouch, chair for the 100 People Who Care Steering Committee. "We are thrilled to resume in-person meetings and help area nonprofit organizations make an even bigger impact with special funding from our members!"

Any members who were part of the group prior to the hiatus are still considered members, unless they reach out to communicate otherwise. And new members are always welcome to jump on board! "The more members we have, the greater impact we can make," Mazouch says. "We would love to pack the hotel courtyard and really show up for these charities, who have been patiently waiting for their turn to present since February 2020 when they were nominated by our members."

The three charities who will be presenting during the August giving meeting are Child Abuse Prevention Education (CAPE), ElderCare, and the Great Bend Zoological Society. Anyone who would like to attend is more than welcome to check out the group and see what it's all about. Refreshments being provided by Spectrum CPA Partners include fresh banana split bites, party mix, and chilled wine, beer, and waters.

The 100+ People Who Care group was launched in 2017 and has since raised nearly $130,000 for deserving local charities with zero fundraising efforts. Members of the group pledge to donate $100 per quarter to whichever charity is voted the winner after hearing three 5-minute presentations from organizations nominated at the previous meeting. At the end of each meeting, a winner is announced and checks are made out directly to their charity, bringing in approximately $10,000 in under an hour. The program is currently being underwritten by Spectrum CPA Partners. Anyone interested in learning more or joining the group should visit www.100bartoncounty.org.
